The first time Noel realized they weren't her memories, she was standing in front of the register and wondering why her mouth was full of strawberry ice cream.
"I'm sorry," she said, turning back to the cashier in his red Sweeteeth cap and apron. "I don't actually want this. I don't even know why I got it."
The cashier stared.
"Strawberry is my least favorite flavor of ice cream," she tried explaining. "It makes any dairy product taste like it came from a cow that only eats pink frosting."
After a few unsuccessful attempts to get the employees to take the ice cream back, she grudgingly walked out with her frozen pink cow custard.
